What a session looks like:
Folks are fully clothed, and asked to wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing that allow for easeful movement.
Each session varies depending on what the hopes and goals are. Folks come in with a variety of different needs ranging from “I’m feeling depressed and anxious”, to “I would like more mobility/help with this a particular injury”, to “I would like help feeling my body”. So what a session looks like for each of those will be a bit different. The goals guide the process, but there are generally components of personal check-in, bodywork, education, movement and awareness exercises, and practice development/real life integration woven within the session.
The general flow is to arrive together, taking some time to check in with what’s present in our bodies/beings and to name any intentions/goals. I’ll listen, ask questions and propose a flow of the time together that typically includes education, movement repatterning, bodywork and practice cultivation to meet your goals. For example, if someone is feeling anxious and would like to feel more grounded, I might offer a menu of options to choose from, including guided grounding practices, or exploration and awareness building of ones embodied capacity to release, or offer supportive touch and fascial repatterning and then from the embodied experience and learnings, co-create an at-home practice for further integration.
Typically I work with folks for an extended period of time, setting up either a 5 or 10 session expectation, which allows for an arch of inquiry and the necessary time to establish practice routines and integrate the new information into an embodied pattern.
Session Logistics:
Covid Safety agreements:
Please wear a mask. For Covid safety, we'll both wear masks for the session, as well as run an air filter before and during the session, and partake in the ritual of handwashing before entering the studio. Please let me know if there are more precautions you might need and I'll see if it's possible to accommodate.
Covid Informed Consent:
If either of us are symptomatic, have been with someone who tested positive or is symptomatic, or have reason to believe we are higher at risk for transmission, we shall inform the other before our session, so that an informed choice can be made about how to move forward.
Cancellation Policy: I request 24 hour notice to cancel your appointment. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hour's notice are subject to full payment.
Payment:
Cash or check payments can be made directly to the practitioner, at the end of the session.
Online payment options are also available when booking.
Fragrance Free Space:
Many of our clients and practitioners have fragrance sensitivity. In efforts to make this space accessible to them, we ask that all people abstain from wearing fragrances/perfumes/strongly scented body products. If you notice that you put some on earlier in the day, changing clothes or washing the area they were applied is helpful.
What to Wear/Bring:
Please wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing that allows you to move easily. Please bring a journal and water.
Preparation:
Please reflect on what/where you could use more embodied support.
