CPR: Community Practice of Resilience ~Monthly Event
Every month The Everything Space hosts Community Practices of Resilience (CPR) featuring skills and experiences that support resilient infrastructure: for the individual, for our relationships, for our institutions.
Our intention for CPR is to come together, share food, learn, unlearn, and build skills from all area's of community, in ways that include and cultivate the intelligence of our bodies.
The topics will vary from ecology and permaculture, to economic infrastructure, to physical education to trauma informed medic trainings, to communication practices, to health, etc.
What is resilience?
From the Oxford Dictionary, resilience is...
the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; and/or
the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape; elasticity.
From a somatic perspective, one which that takes on the lens of what is happening in a body and what is the experience of that, we think about resilience as the ability to adapt to stress, stay healthy and regulated, maintain homeostasis. This means your nervous system can recover from stress. This means your body can move safely in response to a wide variety of scenarios.
What is community?
We know that community is more than a group of people. It is a social, cultural blurry boundaried phenomena that involves interdependence and shared values or beliefs. AND, it is also a group of people (creatures, plants, living beings). We would like everyone who comes through these doors to feel welcomed into this community.
What creates resilient community?
There are so many exciting ways to add towards a resilient community, which many of us are already participating in. Together, we can define and create what that looks like for ourselves. We know that connection to our bodies, connection to each other and connection to the Earth are all integral components of resilient community. We believe our bodies are holograms of the greater world. How we know and listen to our cells is part of the Great Turning. That creating space for sharing food, conversations and learning in spaces that honor the wisdom of the body opens different possibilities of connection and growth.
