9:30 - 10:30am Somatic Movement : Exploring Connections
Led by Emerge with Amy LePage (she/her)
An experiential movement class about the connections of feet, pelvis, ribcage, shoulders, jaw, eyes and more. Explore how one's individual parts create synchronous movement throughout the whole body, and how detailed awareness of conscious movement educates and enhances this synchronicity. Movement explorations are based in Thomas Hanna Somatics, which has its root in Feldenkrais, as well as other therapeutic movement modalities. |

In It for the Long Haul: growing embodied capacity for the sake of collective liberation
Facilitated by Amanda Franz
Theme: Embodied Support **Masks Required** An offering of gently guided body-based somatic practices to center, presence, move and grow capacity; reshaping ourselves together, within community. If you, like me, are choosing to live this precious life in the challenging (and beautiful) change work of unlearning colonization and white body supremacy, Of reducing harm and dreaming collective liberation, Of building new systems/structures/relationships that are aligned with values of safety, belonging and dignity, Then you know that we'll need to practice new ways of being, together. You know that this work is immense and multifaceted, and that our bodies, as fractals, are also a part of that change. You know that we can’t do this alone, and that the repatterning of ourSelves happens with and between others. This invitation is to join a community of practice. Together, we’ll practice centering our bodies voices and wisdom by making space to slow down, listen and tend. Together, we’ll practice being human, finding movement in stuck places and offering compassion. Together, we’ll co-regulate in the fullness of this time of violence, genocide and planetary destruction. Together, we’ll make space to show up for ourselves, within community, and to grow capacity, so that we may continue to show up for the long haul. This practice space is for all bodies who are moving and dreaming in big and small ways, towards a future where safety, dignity, belonging and the resources to live are available for all. Let's practice being bodies together. Solo practices and optional consent based partner practices. Integrative approach drawing from/influenced by BodyMind Centering, Contact Improvisation, Axis Syllabus, Resmaa Menakem/Somatic Abolitionism and the Strozzi Institute. Drop-in's welcome. Pre-registration helpful. |
2:30 - 4:30pm Real Dialogue Demo
with Abbi Jaffe
Real Dialogue offers skills and a way of talking that can shift difficult conversations into generative conflict and understanding. The skills of Real Dialogue are Speak for Yourself, Listen Mindfully and Remain Curious. Real Dialogue supports co-parents, partners, co-workers, roommates, friends, board members, and/or parents and adult child. During a Real Dialogue facilitated session, two people will sit across from each other and the Real Dialogue Specialist will coach you in practicing the skills, as well as offer other techniques to support your process. Real Dialogue aims for differentiation and witnessing, not for compromise or solutions. A main objective in Real Dialogue is respectful conflict and the ability to see, hear, and feel both self and other within the conflict. Come learn about Real Dialogue and watch a live demo. There will be time for questions. |
6:30 - 8pm Group Shake: a durational practice
with guest facilitator Alexia Buono
Shaking is a durational practice that helps relieve our bodily selves from staying stuck in trauma responses. It is one of many modalities of body-centered responses that Resmaa Menakem cites, including “collective humming, rocking, rhythmic clapping, drumming, singing, grounding touch, wailing circles, and call and response.” The invitation is to come together to shake, move, be gentle, or rest in a corner without needing to speak. This will be a queer, trans affirming space, facilitated by a member of the Releaf Collective, Alexia Buono. Accessibility Notes: There is an air filter in the space. We are not requiring that you mask or test for COVID prior to attending the shake, and do support those who want to and will mask at the event. Bring water to hydrate. The facilitator, Alexia Buono will hold a brief opening circle where she will give a brief explanation of the Shake, what to expect, and how you will be supported in the space as an individual and as a collective. |
