Queer Shake Friday June 7th, 5-6:30pm facilitated by Amanda Franz $10-30 suggested donation- no one turned away for lack of funds Shaking is a durational practice that helps relieve our bodily selves from staying stuck in trauma responses. It is one of many modalities of body-centered responses that Resmaa Menakem cites, including “collective humming, rocking, rhythmic clapping, drumming, singing, grounding touch, wailing circles, and call and response.” The invitation is to come together to shake, move, be gentle, or rest in a corner without needing to speak. This will be a queer, trans affirming space, facilitated by Amanda Franz Accessibility Notes: There is an air filter in the space. We are not requiring that you mask or test for COVID prior to attending the shake, and do support those who want to and will mask at the event. Bring water to hydrate. The facilitator, Amanda Franz will hold a brief opening circle where they will give a brief explanation of the Shake, what to expect, and how you will be supported in the space as an individual and as a collective. **Copy co-written by Alexia Buono and Amanda Franz |
